Community Events

The SMKC holds its club meetings on the second Wednesday of every month. The meeting times are at 7:00 p.m. and is held at the Marion Extended Care Conference Room, 1530 Cypress Way, Santa Maria. All are welcome to come and join us.

Santa Maria Kennel Club Schedule of Events:

Feb 08        General Meeting Program is a talk by Juanita Amith with the
                   Santa Barbara Sherrif's Search and Rescue Team. She will be
                   talking about the training requirements followed by a
                   demonstration. Should be AWESOME!

Feb 12        The Santa Ynez Valley Dog Training Club will be having Rally
                    and Conformation run thrus at River View Park on the 12th
                    starting at 12:00 pm. Cost is $10.00. For more info, contact

Mar 14        The General Meeting Program will be a talk by DVM Forsythe
                    and will cover current Veterinary Issues.

Apr 11        The General Meeting will be the Annual Achievment Awards
                   followed by Furry Friends Dog Approval.

Apr 28-29    SMKC's first Spring Agility Trial at the Elks Lodge.

May 9          The General Meeting Program will be a presentation on the
                    Puppy Puzzel - Structure Grading.

Jun 12        The Annual White Elephant Auction.

The SMKC sponsors the following dog obedience classes.

Bette Clancy teaches the following classes: Basic Obedience. This class is designed to teach basic obedience commands like sit, stay, down, come, and heel. Classes are six weeks long.

Bette also teaches an advanced Obedience class. This is designed for dogs that have completed their Novice (CD) and Open (CDX) titles and are working towards their Utility Dog Title (UD/UDX).

Handling Class is done for the year. Class will resume in the Spring after the time change.
